Seguin is Booming
Based on the numbers, Seguin is absolutely booming! The city has experienced substantial growth in recent years and even reached the threshold of 30,000 in population last year. Job growth is booming as well. The city reported an unemployment rate at the end of 2016 of 3.4 percent, which was well below the national average.
The Mayor credits some of the growth to the business-friendly attitude of the city council and the economic development department. One of the primary roles of the economic development department is to recruit new businesses but also to retain existing ones and help with their needs from finding room to expand to finding the workforce that fits their needs. Part of this is evident and measured in the number of housing permits filed with the city.
Seguin is easily marketed to businesses due to the logistics of the location between San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. Seguin is so strategically located that businesses can easily move products and get materials along multiple highway and interstate arteries quickly and relatively easily.
Representatives from the city of Seguin eluded to new business opportunities and additional growth. Stay tuned for changes and exciting growth in Seguin!
